My name is Deborah Snow; I am a qualified English teacher, with over 22 years classroom experience with Claires Courts Schools; I now run my own business, offering KS2 specialist booster tuition as well as GCSE and A level tutoring.

With my expertise and enthusiasm , students have maximised their potential and changed their grade outcome from a D to a B or a C to an A. They have developed in confidence and their improved English skills have significantly benefited all their other curriculum subjects.

Following intense demand, from parents I have taken on pupils aged 9-11. This is a key age; expert guidance and enthusiastic one-to-one support from a subject specialist can exponentially improve performance. Primary school children are keen to learn, and I can push them - but we also have great fun together!

I have wide school-based experience with students with Aspergers, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and ADHD.

I'm a practising English examiner with 17 years experience of the exams system and an English teacher familiar with the assessment objectives and successful exam technique.

I offer recipes, tools, and templates to maximise potential.

Tuition

A Level

One to one tuition can help students achieve their highest potential. Syllabi used by Borlase, Newlands, Furze Platt and Burnham Grammar covered.

£55 an hour online only

(Boards covered - AQA A and B /Edexcel Language and Literature, Edexcel Literature/OCR Literature/CiE)

GCSE

Expert one to one tuition in all aspects of English language and Literature; sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary and help with analysis and essay writing.

AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge plus the IGCSEs covered.

£50 per hour online only

Zoom group tuition available £20 ph for three or more - for home-schoolers - 9-3pm weekdays

11 Plus/Common Entrance

I offer intensive tuition to KS2 pupils so that they can confidently and successfully navigate the English aspect of their entrance exams.

£50 per hour online only currently

Students work with me on a series of diagnostic and creative writing booklets filled with helpful tools and techniques.

Reading is the basis of all my teaching, so we read challenging literature together as well as undergo vocab building programmes and a comprehension improvement course.

I craft each session to accommodate the specific needs and progress of the pupil.

From Erika (5/5): (Primary English) Deborah has been tutoring our pre-teen daughters (aged years and 10 years) for approximately 8-10 sessions in recent weeks and has been extremely helpful, professional and enthusiastic.
Her love and knowledge of the English language is evident and it transfers onto our daughters, who are enjoying their sessions tremendously.
Not only does Deborah make it fun for them to do extra English, but she encourages them to become avid readers and to improve their creative writing, skills that transfers to all of their subjects.
Every week they are set some reading and homework that is appropriate for their age, but are challenging enough to get them to step up their game. Deborah then assesses the homework, give positive feedback and adjust where necessary to help our girls acquire new skills.
Deborah is flexible, listens and responds to the need of each child and seems to enjoy working with her students.
We are looking forward to keep on walking a journey with Deborah in the months to come.

Results feedback 2019

Naturally, we were very pleased with Michael`s results - it can`t really get much better than an 8 and a 9 after all - and with him sitting them a year early as well. Thank you for all your help.
